Jensen Ackles is currently promoting his appearance in The boys season 3 as Soldier Boy (no, not the rapper), but it’s no surprise people asked him to think about Supernaturalwhich lasted 15 seasons.

Appearing on Late Night with Seth MeyersAckles opened up about how he felt at the end of the long-running series, something he admits to being bittersweet.

“There was a reason I think we all stayed, because we really enjoyed it. It was family,” he explained.

“I’ve had birthdays and we’ve had vacations and we’ve been through so much together as a team and cast that in the end it was a really sad goodbye, but something we all had feel like you really deserve it.”

Speaking of the series ending, did you know that the original plan had to change due to COVID?

Show boss Andrew Dabb revealed last year, “When Bob Singer and I sat down to talk about Season 15 and our inevitable ending, we came up with something that felt like a fitting version of Sam and Dean’s Heaven: Everybody the boys we met along the way (or, at least, the ones we were able to convince to fly to Vancouver) crammed into a rebuilt Roadhouse, as the band Kansas played our theme song (official unofficial): “Carry on Wayward Son”.

“When we reopened in August, getting so many people together in an enclosed space, let alone traveling with some of our favorites from Los Angeles and quarantining them two weeks for what would be half a day’s work, wasn’t everything. just not realistic.”

Of course, it’s not really the end of Supernatural journey for Ackles, as he produces a prequel spin-off focused on Sam and Dean’s parents called The Winchesterswhich he also says.
